All Things Equal

One of the world's biggest mistakes is to make everything of equal significance. There are rich; there are poor. There are beauties; there are uglies. There are ups; there are downs. The important thing is to not get caught up in that and to notice and appreciate all things for what they are to you, without any comparison to what others think. It is a huge challenge because I believe all humans just want to feel a connection, so we look for a way of connecting, using our "significants" and comparing them to find similarities. Be comfortable in just being, and let the natural flow of the universe, the holy of the spirit, bring what is meant to be yours right to you. Work with it, not at it.

These are the people in your neighborhood...

Neighbors can be a challenge, and moving every two to three years with the military can give you lots of evidence to support that phrase.  This is what I want you to know:

1. DO be neighborly. DON'T lose yourself in that process.

2. DO enjoy the sounds of the neighborhood.  DON'T contribute with your own drama.

3. DO act kindly. DON'T act in kind.

4. DO invite neighbors over to talk and celebrate. DON'T make it a time to share your family's history.

Tradition

Tradition helps you mold your life into what you want it to be. Family tradition continues a long line of beauty that just our family alone has contributed to the planet and society. So, celebrate. Celebrate our traditions.

Learn about your German and Native American cultures!

Go to Pow-Wows. Treasure and value Mother Earth; be good to her and keep her clean. She will provide all you need as long as you care for her. Stand for things you believe in because they are just and right, not because they are easy.

Listen to Kinderchor at Christmastime. Pick your Christmas trees with your family. Save your ornaments and but or make a new one each year. Memories build quickly and it's nice to see the history of your traditions! You don't have to do this, but Oma would be pleased if you ate ham and potatoes on Christmas Eve and a roast on Christmas day. ;) Don't forget St Nikolaus and Heilige Drei Koenige which is also known as Dia de Los Reyes and the Epiphany. Find those chocolates!

Speak German! Walk often and observe nature. Learn how to make your own Bretzen and teach your children!

Remember when there are thunder and lightning outside that "Der Himmie Papa schimpft!"

Take out your Easter Baskets the night before so the bunny can fill them, and grow grass in a basket for some eggs!

Keep Sunday's as a Family day. We aren't the best at that but I think it's something really special if you make it all about one another.

I know this sounds crazy but change out the air in your house every day!  Open your windows and turn off your heat for 30 minutes a day. It keeps you healthier.

Take pictures and not the ones where everyone is posing. Spontaneous moments are the best ones!

Don't hesitate to make your own traditions with your families or even personal traditions of which only you yourself are aware. Those can be the best ones! Whatever you chose, be traditional! It is what leaves your footprints on the planet long after you're gone.

Family Connection

Family connection is so important! Work on it especially when it is hard. Do things that bring people together. Don't let family pull away from one another. Spend quality time. Limit technology. Turn off the TV and just TALK. Talk about memories. Talk about God's love. Talk about feelings. INVEST in your family and it's traditions, children. There's nothing on this Earth more important!

Get lost!

Try new things! It's too easy to stick to things you're comfortable with or to do things only when you have the company. The problem with that is that you never discover YOU and who you are or even what you may become. God's given you an enormous world with endless possibilities.  Honor Him by looking at as much as you can!!! Your opportunities are limitless but you'll only know that if you get away from things that are familiar to you within your routine. If it makes you feel better t o stick to what you know most of the time then plan a time of day or an entire say to explore outside of that.  That way you're emotionally prepared and  more receptive to to new ideas, activities and life lessons. Your mind will be right there and ready instead of thinking about being at home or with friends. Don't learn this valuable point later in life. Master it when you are you. It's easier to adapt. I love you, my children. Be more than any box or comfort zone dictates!! Go out and get lost in something totally new and unfamiliar to you. DO more. BE more.

Marriage. The sacred choice

Marriage is a scared choice. It is something that is supposed to be bound by God and something that will have you connected by spirit and by earthly commitments to another human being until you leave this Earth and enter the gates of Heaven. Because of this beautiful union, you have to take your time and chose wisely!

There are lots of bells and whistles and all things beautiful around marriage. You are in love, party and get to spend time with your partner any time you want, doing what you want. But...there are struggles that come with marriage. So much so that you should consider who you are willing to have the hard times with more so than who will be with you in good times. It's easy to be with someone when things are great, but not so easy when things go wrong. When you chose your life partner, make sure you're willing to fight with and against them until you or your partner takes the last breath of life. The question is not IF you will find them doing things that hurt you or against what you agree upon the sat you take your vows. It's when. You both  are human and will be temped as you grow into each new decade of your lives. There will be times when you fall out of love. The love you have for the person you chose has got to be string enough to pull you through those times when you don't feel warm and fuzzy but still feel devoted. The very things that attract you to them in the beginning will be the very thing that as long as you evolve will drive you crazy! Life is full of challenges ad relationships rank up there at number one. Before you pop the big question or answer it, talk with your partner about these things and really digest the answers.

1. Do you believe in God and live by His laws as best as you can? What is your religion? What are the religious laws you live by? If their religion or spiritual beliefs are different from yours, you need to consider how that will impact your life. Will you get the support you need to meet touch times? If you have children, how will you raise them?

2. Do you want children? Planned or unplanned? How many? Where and how do you want to raise them? Frequent moves or more stationary? In what region of the world do you want to live? Religion? Socially and academically? Private schools? Go to church?

3. Do you want to live in a particular area of the world? Do you want to buy a house or are you happy in an apartment? What kinds of things do you prefer to have in living quarters such as a yard, trees, laundryin home, large driveway, many rooms, etc?

4. Do you like to travel? How will you fund your traveling? Do you save up for it or use a credit card? How do you pay off your credit card and in how much time?

5. What are your life goals?

6. Do you have a good relationship with your family? Do you enjoy doing things with them? For them?

7. How do you heal yourself and take time for yourself?

8. Do you think two people in a relationship should spend all of their time together? How do you feel about spending time with friends and not each other?

9. Are you saving money? Are you in debt? How much what are your plans to pay them off? How can we pay for our debts and  what we want and save all together?

10. What are you beliefs about the man's role and woman's role in the family and house hold?  Do you believe in sharing chores and responsibility or does each member of the family have their own? If that changes when children are born, how so?

11. How much do you want to spend on a wedding and who do you think should pay for it? What kinds of things are important to you at your wedding? Do you want to get married at your church or mine and do we continue to go to the church for Sunday session? How do you chose who to invite?  How do we pick a honeymoon and how can we plan to afford it?

12. If one of us becomes attracted to another person and perhaps falls into temptation, are we willing to fight through it and figure out what we are not giving one another to make us feel complete and adored? Will be open and honest enough to ask "Are you happy" every once in a while to check in?

There is no way to perfect a marriage.  There will be troubles, and some of them will be HUGE and you may feel like you can't move on, but you can. Just make sure you marry someone you WANT TO MOVE ON WITH, and not someone one you just like to look at or have a good time with. Talking about these things doesn't mean the opinions and views you express at that moment will remain, but it DOES mean you can talk about serious things, and you should! It means you're open with one another and ready to talk about uncomfortable things.

I wish you happiness beyond your wildest dreams, my children! May you find your soul mates and treasure them as much as you are treasured and the other way around! May your lives be blessed with the love of God and be guided in His light! May you have the strength and support to pull through the toughest of times and find an even stronger sense of self through it all. May you grow old with the loves of your lives and enjoy every moment of your journeys together! Remember you are worth someone's effort to continuously work on your relationship, and mommy's babies deserve no less than true commitment!

I love you my children! Mommy is so, so proud!

I'm the BEST!

Respect those who believe in you and in whom you believe!

Selflessness brings  happiness!

The best at what?  What do you "do" with your "best?"

So many people are caught  up in being the BEST. From friends I see you with, to professionals in public service, to politicians, to school officials to every day folks I don't even know, their desire to be perceived as "the best" is something that oozes from their pores.  It's in the way they walk, the way they talk, the way they look at others...it is in pretty much every thing they do and say. It can make others feel inferior and inadequate. DON'T let it happen to YOU

The primary reason one feels compelled to be the best is because they feel what they really are is simply not good enough. In conclusion with my experiences, there are three kinds of people who are obsessed with being the best: those who come from very little, those who are new to money or stature and those who feel entitled because they come from money and or stature. The individuals who come from little are those who are poor. They want to be in a better position and strive to be the "best" to get noticed and have the opportunities to utilize resources to make a better life for themselves.  It is difficult to find beauty and peace in what you have and who you are when you are struggling. Being strong in your faith will help. Look for the good things in life to help you get through the tough times.  I believe it is always important to ask yourself, "What am I doing with my best to make things better for more people than just me?"  When you work hard to make things better, things do get better. It may take a long while, but it gets better. NEVER GIVE UP!

The individuals who are new to money or stature are those who have recently been promoted to a high position at the workplace,  married to someone who is well known and respected, or simply new to a higher standard of living. They expect the "best" because they feel all of their hard work has paid off.  It is difficult to find beauty and peace in what you have and who you are when you feel so accomplished. Being strong in your faith will help.  Remaining diligent in your work ethics will help. When you make it to the next level of your life and you meet a goal, don't stop there. Don't belittle the others who aren't there yet and don't ignore others who have so much to offer you. Open your eyes to all that is around you and filter through what you want and need. I believe it is always important to ask yourself, "What am I doing with my best to make things better for more people than just me?" When you work hard to make things better, things do get better. It may take a long while, but it gets better. NEVER GIVE UP!

The individuals who come from money and/or stature are children of people with large salaries, generations of people from a particular name or place, or simply people who have always had large amounts of money and many situations of favoritism. They claim the best because they haven't experienced anything but what they have. It is difficult to find the beauty and peace in what you have and who you are when you don't have anything to compare it to. Remember to be humble and appreciative, and when you think you have all there is, help others so that they can feel fulfilled, too. I believe it is always important to ask yourself, "What am I doing with my best to make things better for more people than just me?" When you work to make things better, things do get better. It may take a long while, but it gets better. NEVER GIVE UP!

THINGS don't make you the best, IDEAS don't make you the best, and even INTELLIGENCE doesn't make you the best. When you continually apply your things, ideas and intelligence to others' and make life even better for everyone, when you work toward a goal that is bigger than yourself, that is what's best!

I love you, my children! Mommy is so, so proud!
